Forget your 2024 predictions; Nintendo just dropped an interactive alarm clock! Meet the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, a $99 device that uses game sounds to coax you out of bed. This isn't your grandma's alarm clock; Alarmo responds to your movements, creating a playful, game-like wake-up experience.
Alarmo: Wake Up in Your Favorite Game World
Featuring sounds inspired by Mario, Zelda, Splatoon, and more, with free updates promised, Alarmo intensifies its alarm until you're fully out of bed, rewarding your morning victory with a brief fanfare. Setting it up is simple: choose a game, scene, and alarm time, then let Alarmo's unique radio wave sensor technology do the rest. This sensor detects movement without video recording, prioritizing user privacy. It even works in dark rooms and through obstacles.
Currently, Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada can snag Alarmo early via the My Nintendo Store. In-person purchases are also available at the Nintendo New York store.
A Mysterious Switch Online Playtest
Beyond the Alarmo, Nintendo's announced a Switch Online playtest, running from October 10th to 15th. Up to 10,000 participants will be selected, with those outside Japan chosen on a first-come, first-served basis. The playtest itself takes place from October 23rd to November 5th, focusing on a new feature for the Nintendo Switch Online service. To participate, you'll need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, be at least 18 years old, and have a Nintendo Account registered in select countries (Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy, or Spain).
