Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay and Star

Capcom recently showcased fresh gameplay footage for its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for a 2026 release. The reveal, part of the PlayStation State of Play event, not only offered a glimpse into the game's dynamic sword combat and imposing enemies but also confirmed the legendary Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist.

PlayThe trailer highlighted Musashi's exceptional swordsmanship, alongside a glimpse of his playful and mischievous personality. Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Intriguingly, Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the late Toshiro Mifune, a renowned Japanese actor known for his samurai roles.

The game's setting is a demon-infested Kyoto, overrun by the malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning hellish creatures into Japan. Marking the return of the Onimusha franchise after a two-decade hiatus, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025, to build anticipation for the new installment.
