High-end pre-built PCs often come with a hefty price tag, but savvy shoppers can still snag incredible deals. Dell currently offers an Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC featuring a GeForce RTX 4090 for $3,699.99—a $1,000 discount. With GeForce RTX 4090 prices climbing again, and standalone cards costing at least $2,000, building your own PC might not be the most economical option. Plus, a pre-built offers the advantage of a comprehensive warranty.

This powerhouse packs an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 4TB NVMe SSD. The 14th-gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is Intel's top gaming CPU, excelling in both gaming and productivity. While known for running warm, it's effectively cooled by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The RTX 4090 reigns supreme as the most powerful GPU available, outperforming all competitors from both NVIDIA and AMD. As Chris Coke noted in his RTX 4090 review, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but it delivers unparalleled frame rates... even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable." Expect to run any game at 4K with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, maintaining high frame rates even on demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. Its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM also makes it ideal for AI applications.
A Note on RTX 5000 Series GPUs
NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series, launching late January, will undoubtedly offer increased power. However, expect significantly higher prices. The RTX 5090's Founder's Edition is projected at $2,000, with availability likely to be an issue. The RTX 5080, priced at $999, may also face availability challenges. While we'll review it soon, its lower VRAM (16GB vs 24GB) suggests it won't fully replace the 4090's dominance.
A Note on Alienware's New "R16" Desktop Chassis
The R16, Alienware's 2024 design, is 40% smaller than previous models. Its efficient airflow design—drawing air through side and front intakes and exhausting via rear and top fans—houses a 240mm liquid cooling radiator. While some configurations omit liquid cooling, we generally recommend it due to its superior performance over stock air cooling. Note that Dell's new Area 51 chassis (announced at CES 2025) bears a strong resemblance to the R16.
