Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating the arrival of season two with a wave of fresh content! Get ready for new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive in-game rewards await those who watch the new episodes!
Netflix's surprise holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed—a free-to-play battle royale experience based on the hit Korean drama—was a bold move. Now, with this season two update, they're cleverly incentivizing both subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
What's in store for players? Starting January 3rd, a map inspired by the season two mini-game, Mingle, launches. Three new playable characters—Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos—will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game unlock events on January 3rd and 9th, respectively. And for those watching the show, there are extra rewards! Watching episodes of Squid Game season two earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching seven episodes unlocks the Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content calendar for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: The Mingle map and Geum-Ja arrive. The Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until January 9th) challenges players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos joins the fray with his Thanos’ Red Light Challenge recruitment event (until January 14th). Eliminate opponents using knives to unlock him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik, the final character in this update, makes his in-game debut.
Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a daring move, but rewarding Netflix subscribers and encouraging viewing is a shrewd strategy, cleverly tying the game to the show's success.
