Despite the cancellation of the live-action Driver TV series, Ubisoft confirms continued development of other Driver franchise projects. Let's delve into Ubisoft's recent announcement.
Ubisoft Remains Active on Future Driver Projects
Ubisoft officially announced to Game File the termination of the live-action Driver series adaptation. Initially slated for exclusive streaming on Binge.com in 2021, the project was part of Ubisoft's broader strategy to expand its game franchises into new media. As Ubisoft Film & Television head Danielle Kreinik stated, the goal was "to bring our games to life in new and exciting ways and create content set in the world, culture, and community of gaming."
The collaboration ended due to the closure of Hotrod Tanner LLC, a movie-related subsidiary (named after the Driver protagonist), in January. A Ubisoft spokesperson confirmed to Game File, "We are no longer moving forward with our partnership with Binge for a Driver series."
However, Ubisoft assures fans that development continues on other Driver projects. The company stated it is "actively working on other exciting projects related to the franchise" and eagerly anticipates future announcements. Specific details remain undisclosed, but fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates.
