Begin your journey by speaking with Botim, situated south of the Rinascita-Ragunna-Thessaleo Fells northern Resonance Beacon. He'll explain the family legacy and the shadowy creatures plaguing the ancestral site's three towers, offering rewards for their elimination. This initiates the Shadow of the Past quest.
Thorncrown Rises Tower Locations
The Shadow of the Past quest is divided into three sub-quests, each tied to a specific tower:
- Resounding Rise: The northeastern tower.
- Twilight Rise: The southern tower.
- Command Rise: The southwestern tower.
Resounding Rise
Locate the Resounding Rise tower northeast of Thorncrown Rises. Speak to Itzel, positioned east of the tower, to begin the sub-quest. Inside, navigate the following:
- Interact with the painting at the hallway's end to proceed.
- Follow quest markers to engage and defeat Abyssal Mercators.
- Collect supply chests located in the northern, western, and eastern rooms.
- Interact with a second painting to continue.
- Defeat additional enemies and collect more chests.
- Follow quest markers to another Abyssal Mercator.
- Interact with the painting behind the defeated Mercator.
- Open the chest at the hallway's end to cease enemy fire.
- Defeat the obstructing enemy.
Next, correctly arrange the paintings:
- Move the top-left painting to the bottom-right display.
- Move the painting behind the top-left display to the bottom-left display.
- Move the top-right painting to the top-left display.
- Move the painting behind the bottom-right display to the top-right display.
- Collect the Premium Supply chest.
Finally, interact with the painting, defeat the final Abyssal Mercator, speak to Itzel, and collect the Tidal Supply chest. This weakens one Command Rise Tower barrier.
Twilight Rise
Travel southeast to the Twilight Rise tower and speak to Insula to enter. Follow quest markers until you encounter a loop; Insula will appear. Then:
- Investigate the three marked locations for clues.
- Speak to Insula.
- Enter the secret passage beneath the elevator.
- Defeat the Abyssal Patricius.
- Collect the Supply chest and continue onward.
- Defeat the final Abyssal Patricius.
- Speak to Insula again.
- Collect the Tidal Supply chest.
This completes the Twilight Rise sub-quest and weakens the second Command Rise Tower barrier.
Command Rise
Completing the previous two sub-quests automatically triggers the Command Rise sub-quest. The steps involve:
- Speaking to Insula and Itzel at the camp northeast of the Command Rise Tower.
- Utilizing the Wingray northwest of the beach to fly to the tower.
- Entering the tower and following quest markers.
- Collecting supply chests west of the moving libraries.
- Using the Grapple to ascend.
- Collecting additional supply chests.
- Engaging and defeating the Abyssal Patricius.
- Collecting a chest and using the Grapple to climb higher.
Utilize the Grapple to reposition libraries, creating pathways to higher levels; collect chests along the way. Two Sonance Caskets: Ragunna are hidden within. Use the chandelier mechanism to reach the tower's peak. Discover Liel's demise, speak to Insula and Itzel, and use the portal to confront the Abyssal Patricius. Defeat it to obtain the Call of the Abyss Rectifier and a Premium Supply chest.
Exiting via the portal and speaking to your companions awards the King of Thessaleo and Shadow of the Tower achievements.
