Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced
Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the 2025 Xbox game showcase season. Following the successful 2023 and 2024 iterations, this January showcase promises a fresh look at upcoming titles. The event begins at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch.
Confirmed Games:
The showcase will feature gameplay reveals and updates for three highly anticipated games:
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive (France), slated for a 2025 release and confirmed as a day-one Xbox Game Pass title.
- Doom: The Dark Ages: The latest entry in the iconic Doom franchise from id Software, initially unveiled in June 2024. A demo was playable at QuakeCon 2024, with rumors pointing towards a mid-2025 launch.
- South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game developed by Compulsion Games (Canada), the creators of Contrast and We Happy Few. Announced in June 2023, a release date is still pending.
Beyond the Confirmed Titles:
While these three games are confirmed, previous Developer Directs have lasted over 40 minutes and showcased multiple titles. The 2024 event featured Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the possibility of additional unannounced surprises at this year's showcase.
