Assassin's Creed Shadows' Release Pushed Back to March 2025
Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, moving the release date from February 14, 2025 to March 20, 2025. This decision follows an earlier postponement from the original November 2024 launch. The publisher cites the need for additional refinement and polishing based on player feedback as the reason for the latest delay.
The initial delay, announced in September 2024, shifted the release by three months. While the first delay was attributed to development challenges concerning historical accuracy, this second delay directly addresses player feedback. Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality, immersive experience through ongoing player-developer communication. Both delays aim to provide the development team more time for game refinement and polishing.
New Release Date: March 20, 2025
Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar compensation will be offered for this shorter delay remains unannounced. The five-week postponement is likely to generate less player discontent than the previous three-month delay.
The additional delay might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its practices, launched to improve player focus and address recent disappointing sales figures and record losses. Delaying Assassin's Creed Shadows to incorporate fan feedback could be a strategic move aligned with this initiative to become more "player-centric."
