The rollout of new content kicks off in early May with the first free story add-on, The Works of Luis Frois. This update will be accompanied by a Codex update and several quality-of-life improvements. Notably, May will also see the introduction of significant parkour enhancements and a photo mode update. These updates are part of Ubisoft's ongoing commitment to incorporating community feedback into the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
Community developer Daniel St. Germain emphasized the importance of player feedback in today's video, stating, "Your feedback has been a core focus of the team throughout development, and that’s not stopping now that Shadows is released. Regular title updates are coming, each with impactful additions – and changes – based on your feedback and requests, with some bug fixes to continue refining the experience across all platforms."
In June, players can look forward to another free story drop, along with the introduction of more challenging difficulty settings, enhanced gameplay immersion options, an open-world alarm system, and the ability to toggle headgear during cutscenes. These changes are eagerly anticipated by the community, and Ubisoft plans to roll out even more features before the year ends, including new game+ support, additional story content, and special collaborations.
The highlight of the year is set to be the first major DLC expansion, Claws of Awaji, slated for release later in 2025. This expansion promises a 10-hour adventure featuring new content such as the Bo staff weapon and a new region for characters Naoe and Yasuke to explore. While pricing details are yet to be disclosed, Claws of Awaji will be free for players who pre-ordered Assassin’s Creed Shadows before its launch last month.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched on March 20 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, bringing Ubisoft’s iconic stealth series to the setting of Feudal Japan. The game has not only secured a spot on our list of the best games of 2025 so far but also emerged as the best-selling game of last month.
