Beginner's Guide to Building Ultimate Defense

by Zoe Mar 27,2025

*Build Defense* is an engaging *Roblox* game that combines elements of base-building and survival against diverse threats such as monster attacks, tornados, bombs, and even alien invasions. While it might initially resemble *Minecraft* with an added twist, *Build Defense* actually draws closer inspiration from the original *Fortnite*—a nod to those who remember its early days. This game offers a unique and enjoyable experience, though it comes with a learning curve. To ease your journey, we've put together this Beginner's Guide to help you navigate and thrive in *Build Defense*.

Build Defense Beginner’s Guide

Below, we'll outline some essential tips that we wish we had known when starting out. Implementing these strategies can significantly enhance your gameplay and accelerate your progress.

The object of the game is to survive...

When you're first dropped into your world and onto your plot of land, you might think the goal is to protect your plot. Not quite! **The main objective is to survive, or in simpler terms, avoid dying.** You'll face numerous dangers, and your task is to endure them. Ideally, you'll do this at your plot by constructing a defensive structure. However, if you're feeling adventurous, you can simply roam the world until the threat passes—a strategy that's surprisingly effective. **Each time you survive, you earn a "Win" and some in-game currency.** Accumulating Wins is key to progressing in the game. So, keep an eye on screen messages and focus on staying alive.

... dying is completely normal

**Don't be discouraged if you die.** It's a common occurrence in *Build Defense*, and the repercussions are minimal. Upon death, you'll respawn immediately, lose your current items, and fail the current wave of enemies. However, these setbacks are manageable. **You can repurchase your weapons and items**, and fortunately, the monsters and disasters won't destroy your structures. New attack waves come every two minutes, giving you plenty of opportunities to try again. In essence, **you only lose a few minutes of your time**—a small price to pay in this engaging game.

Build high, not low

Initially, we thought constructing a wall around our plot would suffice to fend off monsters. However, this approach proved ineffective, as it left openings for the monsters to exploit. A more effective strategy is to **build a tall set of stairs leading to a high platform.** When night falls, simply climb up and wait it out. The steep stairs will cause many monsters to fall during their ascent, and those that reach the top can be dealt with using **turrets for maximum impact**. This setup is highly effective and will help you survive most nights.

Don’t just build, explore!

There's much more to do on the island beyond just managing your plot. You can visit other players, sell your ores, and even take on **quests**. Most of these activities require a certain number of Wins to unlock, but some, like the **Gingerbread’s House quest**, are immediately available. Completing these quests can unlock new and exciting building parts, enhancing your gameplay experience.

The “Shop” isn’t just for premium items

As you advance in *Build Defense*, don't overlook the Shop. **Most items there can be purchased with in-game currency.** Before diving into shopping, ensure you've accumulated enough Wins. Also, remember to join the Swiftplay Roblox group and to like, favorite, and follow the game to receive a free gift.

When you’re ready, move to the next area

Once you've earned 190 Wins, you can transition to the next area and start the cycle anew. You'll encounter new disasters, quests, and building opportunities.

**That's the essence of *Build Defense*. Enjoy surviving and building in this dynamic game. Don't forget to check out our *Build Defense* codes for some fantastic in-game freebies.**
