In the vast ocean of gaming options available today, finding a game that stands out can be a thrilling quest. One such gem that has captured my attention is "My Father Lied," a mystery and Lovecraftian puzzle adventure that distinguishes itself with its compelling narrative.
My Father Lied Is Made by an Indie Developer
The story of how "My Father Lied" came to be is as intriguing as the game itself. Ahmed Alameen, its creator, initially had no intention of becoming a game developer. In 2020, while establishing himself as a writer and filmmaker, a college friend suggested they collaborate on a game. Though the team disbanded before the project could start, the seed of an idea planted in Ahmed's mind wouldn't let go. Determined to bring his vision to life, Ahmed embarked on a solo journey, teaching himself 3D modeling and Unreal Engine. The game's title itself was a result of a brainstorming session with his wife, showcasing the personal touch in every aspect of its creation.
So, What’s the Game’s Story?
Diving into the heart of "My Father Lied," players are enveloped in a mystery intertwined with ancient Mesopotamian myths, full of secrets, puzzles, and surprises. You take on the role of Huda, a young woman haunted by the unresolved disappearance of her father for twenty years. As the narrative unfolds, you'll uncover that the truth behind her father's fate is far from straightforward.
Drawing inspiration from 7,000 years of Mesopotamian culture, the game seamlessly blends ancient tales with contemporary storytelling. The puzzles are designed as straightforward point-and-click challenges, complemented by stunning 2D visuals and immersive 360-degree images.
When Is It Coming to Android?
"My Father Lied" is set to launch on PC on May 30th, 2025. Following the PC release, Android and iOS versions are scheduled to arrive in the third quarter of 2025. For more details, you can visit the game's official Kickstarter page or its Steam page.
As of now, "My Father Lied" is not yet available on the Google Play Store. It's likely that once the Steam launch is completed, the developers will shift their focus to optimizing the game for mobile platforms. In the meantime, stay tuned for our coverage of "Apocalyptic Seas in High Seas Hero," which is now available on Android.
