The GTA 6 mapping initiative has intensified following Trailer 2's launch, with a core team member telling IGN: "This completely reshapes our roadmap for the coming months."
With nearly 400 active participants, the GTA 6 Mapping Discord community is meticulously analyzing Trailer 2's wealth of new geographical references.
"The volume of new data is staggering - it's fundamentally altering our project timeline," said server moderator Garza. "We're just beginning to process all this fresh material."
This collaborative mapping effort originated after the massive 2022 leaks (which some speculate Rockstar subtly acknowledged in Trailer 2's opening). Until now, their work had relied solely on those initial leaks and December 2023's first trailer.
DuPz0r's latest map iteration from March already requires updating, as Trailer 2 delivers unprecedented geographical clarity for Leonida - Rockstar's fictionalized Florida.

Alongside character reveals and seventy exclusive screenshots, Rockstar unveiled key Leonida locations including Vice City (their Miami counterpart), the tropical Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and the northern landmark Mount Kalaga.
The mapping team now faces the detailed work of correlating trailer footage with real-world Florida geography to refine their virtual representation. Their next update promises the most comprehensive preview yet of GTA 6's world ahead of its May 2026 launch.
Should Rockstar release additional promotional material before launch, the volunteers stand ready to incorporate new findings. Only the game's official release will reveal how closely their fan-made rendition matches Rockstar's creation.

The project operates under potential threat from Take-Two Interactive, as evidenced by their March shutdown of a GTA 5 mod recreating the fan-made map.
When questioned about Take-Two's stance last year, Garza acknowledged cautious optimism: "While we've operated uninterrupted thus far, we remain prepared should corporate communication occur. Our avoidance of leaked assets may explain their tolerance - our work arguably generates anticipation."
