PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free

Sony addressed the near-day-long PlayStation Network (PSN) outage this past weekend, attributing it to an "operational issue" in a social media statement. The company offered no further explanation of the cause or preventative measures.

To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony will automatically add five extra days to their subscriptions.

Gamers experienced widespread disruption throughout the outage, with over one-third unable to log in and others reporting server crashes. This incident highlights concerns among players who oppose Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player games on PC.

This isn't the first major PSN downtime. A significant data breach in April 2011 resulted in over 20 days of connectivity issues. While less severe, the recent outage has left PS5 users dissatisfied with Sony's limited communication regarding the incident.
