Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

by Leo May 23,2025

The Pokémon Company has recently responded to the challenges fans have faced in obtaining the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In an official statement, they announced plans for reprints and efforts to enhance product availability for enthusiasts.

The launch of the newest set, Destined Rivals, was marred by shortages, pre-order issues, and the impact of scalpers. This set, along with other recent releases such as Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have been highly sought after, making them difficult to acquire.

In a statement released on their official website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged the difficulties some fans are experiencing in purchasing certain Pokémon TCG products due to high demand affecting availability. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement explained. They assured fans that reprints would be available at participating retailers as soon as possible.

TPC also committed to "maximizing production" for future TCG expansions to improve product availability at launch. They pledged to "continue to reprint impacted products" to replenish stock, including at the Pokémon Center.

In response to the issue of scalpers, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed their strategy. They emphasized their commitment to providing a smooth purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center by employing technology to prioritize fans. This includes the use of a virtual queue system for certain products during high traffic periods.

"We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. They expressed gratitude for the community's continued support and patience as they strive to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans.

With these promises, fans are hopeful that collecting and playing the Pokémon TCG will become less stressful when new sets are released.
