A remake of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion will have big changes to game mechanics

MP1st has uncovered intriguing details about a rumored The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake, sourced from the anonymized portfolio of a former Virtuos Studios developer. This isn't insider gossip; it's allegedly from the developer's own work showcasing a project built using Unreal Engine 5. The report suggests a complete reimagining of Oblivion, not just a remaster.

This purported remake boasts significant mechanical overhauls. Expect revamped stamina, stealth, attack blocking (drawing inspiration from Soulslike titles to address the original's perceived shortcomings), archery, damage reactions, and the user interface. The damage system will apparently feature visible impact reactions, and stamina management is hinted at being more intuitive. The UI and archery mechanics will also receive modernizations.

MP1st speculates that while initial plans may have involved a simple remaster (as suggested by leaked Microsoft documents), the project has evolved into a full-scale remake. While sources confirm the remake won't appear at the upcoming Developer_Direct, rumors suggest a potential release this year.
