According to Remedy's latest annual report, Control 2 has achieved a significant milestone by successfully passing the concept validation stage and transitioning into full production. This development is a clear indicator of the project's forward momentum, and fans can look forward to its progress.
In addition to Control 2, two other exciting projects are currently in active development: FBC: Firebreak and the remakes of Max Payne 1+2. A year ago, these titles were merely in the preparation phase, but they have now progressed to the next stage of development. However, it's worth noting that the project Kestrel, which was being developed in collaboration with Tencent, has been canceled and removed from Remedy's plans since May of last year.
All these projects are being crafted using Remedy's proprietary engine, Northlight, which has already demonstrated its prowess in titles like Alan Wake 2 and other Remedy creations. The use of Northlight ensures high-quality gaming experiences across these upcoming releases.
Regarding budgets, Control 2 is set with a budget of 50 million euros. The game will be self-published by Remedy and is slated for release on Xbox Series, PS5, and PC. On the other hand, FBC: Firebreak comes with a slightly smaller budget of 30 million euros. This project will be accessible through PlayStation and Xbox subscription services upon its launch, as well as on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
The budget for the remakes of Max Payne 1+2 remains undisclosed, but it is confirmed that these will be AAA-level games. Both development and marketing costs are fully covered by Rockstar Games, ensuring a robust release strategy for these anticipated remakes.
