Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure, Split Fiction, has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling nearly four million copies. Publisher EA highlighted this achievement in their recent financial report, labeling the game as a "hugely successful launch" and crediting it as a significant factor in their strong finish to the 2025 fiscal year.
In a jubilant social media post, Hazelight celebrated the news with, "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it's amazing... Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made..."
Split Fiction immerses players in the diverse universes crafted by two fiction writers. This innovative co-op adventure allows two players to enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became another hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, selling over two million copies within just one week. Additionally, Split Fiction is set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight continues to develop its next project.
Further expanding its reach, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is currently in development. Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films, is spearheading the project and is in the process of assembling a team of writers, a director, and a cast that will feature Sydney Sweeney.
In our IGN Split Fiction review, we praised the game as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another." We noted that it delivers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they're introduced," ensuring a "fabulously fresh" experience throughout its entire 14-hour duration.
