Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Cursed Possessions
Phasmophobia's most perilous ghosts often require equally risky tools for identification, such as Cursed Possessions. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high-reward, high-risk gameplay mechanic. This guide explains how to obtain and effectively utilize it.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke the ghost into revealing evidence. By sequentially inserting pins, you can trigger actions like EMF5 readings or UV traces, particularly useful with elusive or quiet ghosts.
Ten pins are available, each insertion costing 5% sanity. Inserting all pins depletes 50% sanity, significantly increasing the risk of a ghost hunt. However, the critical risk lies with the heart pin: inserting it instantly triggers a prolonged Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer than usual), along with a 10% sanity drop. Pin placement is random, adding to the unpredictability.
What Are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?
Cursed Possessions (or "Cursed Objects") are unique, randomly spawning items in Phasmophobia. Their appearance varies depending on difficulty and game mode (Challenge Mode).
Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while gathering evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate the ghost but at a substantially higher risk to your character's sanity. The inherent risk varies between objects, making strategic choices crucial. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them, and only one spawns per contract (unless adjusted in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
