"Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 Public Test Server Launches with Major Update 7.0 Changes"

by Aaron May 02,2025

The first public test server for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is now live, giving players an early glimpse of the much-anticipated Update 7.0 and its accompanying patch notes. According to a community post from publisher Focus Entertainment and developer Saber Interactive, the preliminary patch notes for the PTS version encompass "most" of the features planned for the 7.0 update. However, they caution that the final 7.0 patch notes may "probably differ" as the team continues to address bugs and refine the update.

PC players participating in the PTS have a wealth of new content to explore, which is not yet available on console platforms. Update 7.0 introduces a new PvE mission, "Exfiltration," and a new secondary weapon, the Inferno Pistol, available for the Vanguard, Sniper, and Heavy classes. Additionally, players can look forward to endgame-focused prestige ranks in PvE, as well as the option to engage in private PvP lobbies.

For fans of customization, Update 7.0 brings exciting new options, including fresh colors like Volupus Pink and Thousand Sons Blue, along with the ability to recolor Bulwark cloth and hands. PvP customization rewards have been boosted by 50%. The PTS also introduces new champion skins: the Imperial Fists Champion for the Tactical class and the Space Wolves Champion for the Vanguard class.

Significant balance changes are also part of this update, highlighted by an expanded weapon arsenal in PvE, offering all classes a broader range of choices. Notably, the Assault class can now wield the Power Sword without needing mods. Players should delve into the detailed patch notes to discover the full scope of weapon adjustments.

One welcome change is the update to the Inferno Operation, where if a player reaches the assembly area in the final stage, other players will be automatically teleported there after a brief notification period. This addresses a longstanding issue of griefing, where players could remain outside the assembly area and hinder progress.
