WoW: Midnight Unveils Flexible Housing System

by Michael Mar 29,2025

Blizzard has provided new insights into the eagerly anticipated in-game housing system coming to World of Warcraft: Midnight. Although the expansion is set to launch following The War Within, as part of the Worldsoul saga, the early previews have sparked excitement with a level of customization that exceeds many players' expectations.

A recent developer blog showcased in-game videos demonstrating the innovative furniture placement mechanics. The system utilizes a grid for item alignment with an automatic snapping feature, making it easy for players to arrange their spaces. Larger objects such as shelves or tables can be decorated with smaller accessories, which remain attached even when the larger piece is moved.

The housing system offers two distinct modes: a Basic Mode for those who prefer simple and organized setups, and an Advanced Mode catering to creative builders. In Advanced Mode, players gain the ability to rotate objects on all three axes and stack them in imaginative ways, allowing for the creation of intricate and visually appealing interiors.

One of the standout features is the capability to scale objects, ensuring that the housing system accommodates the diverse sizes of characters. This means gnomes can craft cozy, intimate spaces, while larger races like tauren can design more expansive layouts. Additionally, certain furniture pieces designed specifically for the housing system will support recoloring, although this feature may not extend to legacy assets.

With the release of Midnight still months away, Blizzard is keeping the community engaged and excited by continuously teasing upcoming content and updates, ensuring that players remain eagerly anticipating the future of World of Warcraft.
