The REPO team is refining its difficulty progression by introducing new mechanics every 10 levels. Discover the upcoming changes to the Overcharge system and insights from the developers during the game’s open beta phase.
REPO Development Highlights
Overcharge System Revamp
Following the open beta release, REPO’s developers at Semiwork gathered critical player feedback, particularly on the Overcharge mechanic.
The Overcharge feature enables players to grab and hurl enemies against surfaces or away from allies. However, this ability is limited by an overcharge meter that triggers an explosion when full.

Originally available from the start, the Overcharge mechanic will now unlock at level 10. The developers also plan to introduce new difficulty-enhancing mechanics at levels 20, 30, and beyond, with Overcharge marking the first of these tiered challenges.
These mechanics will integrate with the game’s narrative, as Semiwork explained, “This system will tie into the lore, giving it purpose beyond a mere feature. We’ll reveal more details soon.”
Developers Engage in Open Beta Matches

During the recent open beta, Semiwork’s developers joined random matchmaking sessions to interact with players and gather feedback on potential improvements. Pontus Sundstrom from Semiwork expressed enthusiasm about seeing players enjoy the new additions.
“I’ve played incognito with many of you through random matchmaking,” Sundstrom shared. “I’ve been asking questions to understand what you find enjoyable and what could be better.”
Semiwork is committed to enhancing REPO based on community input from the open beta. Players can expect exciting updates in the future, with more details promised soon. Stay informed about R.E.P.O.’s latest developments by checking our article below!
