Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Post-Launch Plans
Developing a Wide Range of Future Improvements
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 developer Sandfall Interactive is actively working on multiple improvements for the game. In a June 16 Twitter (X) post, the team pledged to introduce more engaging content and improved accessibility features to elevate the player experience.
They said, "We're currently exploring a wide range of future improvements — from accessibility features to new content and all sorts of bits and bobs we're actively assessing." The team is also expanding localization options beyond the current French and English voice tracks, as well as subtitles in multiple languages.
Players have long requested additional content for this critically acclaimed RPG. Last month, Expedition 33 Lead Writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen expressed optimism about the possibility of DLC. While nothing is finalized, she noted that an expansion hinges on "strong desire from the players"—a sentiment clearly present.
It’s also worth mentioning that Sandfall is developing a new game. Sandfall Interactive COO and Producer François Meurisse confirmed another title is in the works, though it’s too early to share details.
Though no release window or specifics have been announced, Sandfall assured fans that all proposed updates are actively being reviewed. Fans responded with enthusiastic feedback, with many suggesting Arabic as a future localization option.
Hideo Kojima Thinks Expedition 33 Team Size is Ideal
In other news, Death Stranding and Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima commended Expedition 33 for its success and praised the team’s size as ideal. During a Q&A group interview with Dexerto, Kojima reflected on how team sizes have changed over his career.
He said, "When I first started, it was like a team of six. You could do everything yourself. Now, it’s expanded. You can’t really control each employee, so you delegate. But sometimes, the idea doesn’t really work out because it’s a bigger team."
Kojima noted that Expedition 33’s team size—33 members and a dog—is exactly what he considers perfect for creative development. "That’s my ideal when I create something with a team," he added.
CD Projekt Red Wants Expedition 33 to be in GOTY Talks
Industry developers continue to applaud the Belle Époque turn-based RPG, with CD Projekt Red Global Community Director Marcin Momot stating it deserves Game of the Year (GOTY) consideration. On June 17, Momot shared his admiration on Twitter (X), calling for more games like Expedition 33.
The post reads, "That's it for Clair Obscur. I'm not going to be original here when I say we NEED more games like this. Such a great story from start to finish, super likeable characters, fun & engaging gameplay & don't even get me started on the music. Brilliant! It has to be in the GOTY talks!"
In the comments, he also highlighted the game’s multiple endings, saying, "the story and the endings hit hard." He agreed with a fan’s remark that it will be difficult for other titles to surpass Expedition 33 in GOTY discussions.
Expedition 33 has become a fan favorite for GOTY, though this year’s crowded lineup makes victory challenging for Sandfall Interactive’s debut.
