Tarot Cards are among the riskiest Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia, but they also offer some of the most impactful advantages—if you're lucky. When you encounter them, it's wise to use them in a safe area, such as near a hiding spot or the entrance. This precaution allows for a quick escape if you draw an unfavorable card, like Death.

Each card instantly activates upon use, revealing its unique effect. However, there's a chance you'll draw The Fool (similar to a Joker), resulting in no effect. You can draw up to ten cards without impacting your sanity. Duplicates are possible and will produce the same effect as the original.

Ten distinct cards are available:

Tarot CardEffectDraw Chance
The TowerDoubles ghost activity for 20 seconds20%
The Wheel of FortuneGains 25% sanity (green flame); loses 25% sanity (red flame)20%
The HermitConfines the ghost to its favorite room for 1 minute (doesn't affect hunts or events)10%
The SunFully restores sanity to 100%5%
The MoonCompletely drains sanity to 0%5%
The FoolMimics another card before becoming The Fool; burns with no effect17%
The DevilTriggers a ghost event for the nearest player10%
DeathTriggers a Cursed Hunt (20 seconds longer); further card draws are ineffective during the hunt.10%

What are Cursed Objects (Possessions) in Phasmophobia?

Cursed Possessions, often called "Cursed Objects," are unique items randomly appearing on any map (depending on difficulty and Challenge Mode). Unlike standard equipment, which aids investigation with minimal risk, Cursed Objects manipulate the ghost, but at significantly higher risk to your character. Their use is entirely optional; no penalty exists for avoiding them.

Only one Cursed Possession spawns per contract (unless customized), always in a predetermined location. For example, the Voodoo Doll consistently appears in the Garage at 6 Tanglewood Drive. Seven Cursed Objects exist in the game: Haunted Mirror, Voodoo Doll, Music Box, Tarot Cards, Ouija Board, Monkey Paw, and Summoning Circle.

This concludes our guide on using Tarot Cards in Phasmophobia. Check out The Escapist for more guides and news, including all achievements and trophies and how to unlock them.
