Embracer has celebrated the remarkable success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, announcing that the game is approaching the 2 million sales mark. Just one day after its launch, the game sold 1 million copies, and within 10 days, it nearly doubled that number.
This impressive sales achievement highlights the triumph of Warhorse Studios' action RPG set in medieval Europe. Launched on February 4 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has particularly thrived on Steam, achieving a peak concurrent player count of over 250,000. For comparison, the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance reached a peak of 96,069 concurrent players on Steam seven years ago.
It's important to note that the actual peak concurrent player count for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is likely higher, as it also launched on consoles, though Sony and Microsoft do not disclose player numbers.
Embracer, which owns Warhorse Studios through its subsidiary Plaion, described Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 as "initially successful, not only in terms of player and critic reception, but also in terms of performance." Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors praised the dedication of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, stating, "It is our strong belief that the game will continue to generate substantial revenues over the coming years, highlighting the exceptional quality, immersion, and appeal of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Warhorse Studios has a robust roadmap, including updates and new content over the next 12 months, ensuring an engaging and continuously evolving experience for the community."
Wingefors added, "We are immensely proud of the teams involved in the successful release of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, which has significantly outperformed our expectations so far."
Beyond Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Embracer is gearing up for the release of Killing Floor 3 later this quarter (January to March 2025). With over 5,000 game developers working on upcoming projects, Embracer plans to launch 10 triple-A games over the next three financial years (FY 2025/26, FY 2026/27, and FY 2027/28), with eight from internal studios and two from external ones.
In FY 2025/26, Embracer anticipates releasing two triple-A games towards the end of the financial year. Mid-size releases include Gothic 1 Remake, REANIMAL, Fellowship, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, Titan Quest II, Screamer, Echoes of the End (working title), Tides of Tomorrow, Satisfactory (console), and the full release of Wreckfest 2, along with several other unannounced mid-sized games.
Despite recent challenges, including significant layoffs and the sale of studios like Gearbox and Saber Interactive, Embracer still owns Metro developer 4A Games, which is currently developing a new game in the series.
