MachineGames, the studio behind Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, has confirmed a heartwarming detail: players won't be able to harm dogs in the upcoming game. This decision marks a significant departure from the studio's previous work, notably the Wolfenstein series, known for its violent encounters with animal adversaries.
"Indiana Jones is a dog person," Creative Director Jens Andersson revealed in an interview with IGN. While the game retains the series' signature action and brawling, canine encounters will be handled with a gentler touch. Instead of harming dogs, players will find themselves employing methods to scare them away.
Andersson further explained the decision, stating, "It’s a family-friendly IP in many ways," highlighting the studio's commitment to aligning the gameplay with the franchise's overall tone.
Launching December 9th on Xbox Series X|S and PC (with a PS5 release slated for Spring 2025), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle transports players to 1937, between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Indy's adventure involves recovering stolen artifacts, taking him on a globe-trotting quest from the Vatican to Egyptian pyramids and even the submerged temples of Sukhothai. His trusty whip remains a key tool, serving both as a traversal aid and a weapon against human foes. However, rest assured, canine companions are safe from Indy's wrath in this iteration.
