Quick Links
Valheim is an adventure-driven game centered around exploration and conquering challenging biomes to gather resources and face off against formidable bosses. Navigating areas like the Swamp and Mountain can be daunting, as they host creatures capable of taking you down in just a few hits, especially when you're new to these regions.
Yet, amidst this challenging world, Valheim offers relief through its merchants, who provide essential items to ease your journey. At the time of writing, there are three merchants in the game, each residing in different biomes and offering unique goods. Due to the game's procedurally generated worlds, finding these merchants can be tricky. Here's how to locate each of them and what they have in stock.
How To Find Haldor In Valheim (Black Forest Merchant)
Haldor, residing in the Black Forest, is one of the easiest merchants to locate because he can spawn within a 1500m radius of the world's center. This makes him accessible early in your journey, as you can explore the Black Forest biome soon after starting the game.
Haldor often appears near The Elder's spawn area, the boss of the Black Forest. You can identify The Elder's vicinity by looking for glowing ruins in Burial Chambers. However, searching such a large area can be tedious. For a more efficient approach, use the Valheim World Generator created by wd40bomber7. This tool allows you to generate your specific world seed to pinpoint Trader locations.
Once you find Haldor, remember that he will always respawn in the same location. To make future visits easier, construct a portal nearby. Trading with Haldor requires gold, which you can obtain by exploring dungeons and selling gems such as Rubies, Amber Pearls, Silver Necklaces, and more.

How To Find Hildir In Valheim (Meadows Merchant)
Hildir, found in the Meadows, is more elusive than her brother Haldor. Although the Meadows is the least dangerous biome, Hildir's spawn points are typically far from the world's center, ranging between 3000 and 5100m.
To locate her efficiently, use the Valheim World Generator. If you prefer the challenge of finding her manually, search the Meadows within this radius. Her spawn points are about 1000m apart, so be prepared for a bit of sailing around the world. Once you're within 300-400m, a T-Shirt icon will appear on your map, marking her location. After finding Hildir, build a portal for easy future access.
Hildir specializes in clothing that offers various buffs. While many items provide similar effects, they vary in style, allowing you to choose based on aesthetics without losing the desired perk. Additionally, Hildir offers quests that send you to new dungeons across different biomes to retrieve her lost items:
- Smouldering Tombs in The Black Forest
- Howling Caverns in Mountains
- Sealed Towers in The Plains
Completing these quests rewards you with chests that cannot be teleported but grant access to exclusive items in Hildir's shop, each with unique effects.

How To Find The Bog Witch In Valheim (Swamp Merchant)
The newest addition to Valheim's traders is the Bog Witch, located in the treacherous Swamp biome. Navigating the Swamp can be challenging, so it's advisable to upgrade your gear before embarking on this quest.
The Bog Witch can be found between 3000m and 8000m from the world's center, with spawn points 1000m apart. Given the Swamp's difficulty, using the Valheim World Generator to locate her is highly recommended. If you're determined to find her manually, look for the Cauldron icon on your map as you approach her location. Once found, build a portal to ensure easy access in the future.
The Bog Witch is unique among Valheim's traders, being a friendly Greydwarf with a magical Kvastur that maintains her hut and defends against enemies. Her hut provides a comfort level 3, and she offers a range of items that enable you to cook new foods and craft special meads.
