Cyberpunk Devs Admit Witcher 3 Gameplay Flaws

The Witcher 3, while critically acclaimed, wasn't without its flaws. Many fans felt the combat system fell short.

In a recent interview, Witcher 4's game director, Sebastian Kalemba, acknowledged weaknesses in the previous game's gameplay, specifically highlighting the need for significant improvements to both core gameplay mechanics and the monster hunting experience. His statement: "We want to improve the gameplay and the monster hunting experience," underscores this commitment.

Kalemba emphasized that the Witcher 4 trailer should effectively communicate the enhanced weight and impact of monster battles, focusing on improved choreography and emotional intensity.

Witcher 4 promises a substantial combat overhaul. Reassuringly, CD Projekt Red (CDPR) recognizes the shortcomings of previous Witcher games' combat and is actively addressing them. These improvements are expected to carry over into future installments, especially considering Ciri's central role in the upcoming trilogy.

Furthermore, the developers plan to include Triss's wedding, a storyline element initially conceived for Witcher 3's "Ashen Marriage" quest, but ultimately omitted. This narrative arc, where Triss develops feelings for Castello and wishes to marry him quickly, will see Geralt aiding in wedding preparations, including monster extermination, acquiring alcohol, and selecting a gift for the bride.
