Elden Ring Sequel Eliminates Iconic Feature

Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision, stating that the approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions are too short to allow players sufficient time for message writing and reading. The functionality, while historically a key element of FromSoftware's interactive design, was deemed unsuitable for Nightreign's gameplay structure.

This change is notable given the strong reliance on player messages in past games. However, the developers felt the feature wouldn't enhance the Nightreign experience.

To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a distinct storyline. Players can expect a fresh adventure with challenging encounters and gameplay, while retaining the signature atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring universe.
